Common Challenges & Debugging Solutions

Real issues students hit during development and how to troubleshoot them fast.

State Management

Chart.js Re-render Memory Bloat

Issue: Creating a new Chart on every render stacks hidden canvas instances.

Fix Solution:Keep a chart reference and call destroy() before creating a new chart instance.

State Management

Parsing Floating Point Input

Issue: Adding decimal transaction amounts like 19.99 causes string concatenation or floating point calculation bugs.

Fix Solution:Explicitly parse inputs using parseFloat() and handle undefined values with fallbacks, ensuring output totals use toFixed(2).
